Icing Expert is one of many elusive side-projects from Atlanta, Georgia’s own Elevation, most known in vaporwave communities as modern eccojams-producing legend Pursuing Paradise, whose spellbinding loops are created with Y2K samples ranging from hip hop & R&B to rock & metal, with many of her albums tied together with potent narrative themes of love & loss. With Icing Expert, he deftly branches out their plunderphonics experience and counterbalances it with lonesome hypnagogic pop and fluidly ambiguous vocals drenched in fuzzy radio noise and low fidelity.

With five murky, bite-sized tapes under his belt, released on platforms such as ARIAMIS and slowinternet, her streak continues on UNTOWARD with Tale of a Psilocybin Soliloquy, perhaps the darkest & most abstract of them all, which leads to a perfect fit for a Halloween release as the label’s spookiest outing thus far.
