In 2022, the Australian experimental music talent known primarily as super going would compose a side-project of ambient music that was created with the foundational elements of slushwave, eccojams, and drone music, before debuting it on internet netlabel ANGEL EARTH under the alias vaio temple. Three years later, that project would grow its own mini discography comprising five albums, a spare single, and a name change to ラップトップ 寺 (or laptop temple). The project’s streak of albums continues here at UNTOWARD with one that was previewed in the label’s inaugural Various Artists collaboration album BEFORESEEN.

オンラインフラグメント (or online fragment) is the latest instalment of the project that leans the furthest into its vaporwave influences, to the point where the creation of memory star as an impassionately forlorn eccojam served to be the direct inspiration for the rest of the album. Of course, ambience still permeates around its samples, including aquatic textures, vastly spacious drones, and the occasional misty percussion that keeps the experience refreshing, all of which ends on the eerie note of the closer waking up in the real world, which grounds you after you float across the album’s pair of eighteen-minute, multi-part stretches.
